When the COVID-19 pandemic began in Nova Scotia, NSCN quickly implemented a rapid re-licensing process to support the health system needs through an unprecedented time. During this period, NSCN issued over 188 emergency conditional licences to qualified nurses who helped in the delivery of safe, quality care to Nova Scotians.
Currently, the number of COVID-19 cases in Nova Scotia indicate that there is no longer an urgent need to issue emergency conditional licences to support system needs. As a result, we have temporarily closed the rapid re-licensing process for COVID-19 until such a time when it may be needed again.
If an urgent need arises in Nova Scotia once again such as a second wave of COVID-19, NSCN will re-open the rapid re-licensing process and share this news with the public, registrant and others. In addition, NSCN will continue to notify nurses of the expiry date of their emergency conditional licence, information that is also publicly available on our Search for a Nurse.
